Election-analysis Zoom meeting,
Nov. 4 -- register today!

This might be the most contentious election of our lifetimes! Instead of a Southern District dinner meeting in November, we wanted to invite you to attend an association-wide Zoom meeting with AGC Lobbyist Jerry Vanderwood the day after the election on November 4 at 10:00 a.m. Jerry will give you a recap on one of the most exciting elections in recent memory and how it may touch the construction industry.
Don’t miss this virtual Zoom meeting to get the very best information the day after the big election! Before the 10:00 am event, at 9:45, you will have a chance to network with other AGC members in a breakout room for 15 minutes. Register here.

November Safety Forum:
Best practices in COVID-19 management

Join us with our special guests to discuss the current best practices for COVID-19, especially as we enter cold and flu season. Make sure you are following the most current guidelines for how long to have workers quarantine, when you should have them test, and what employment laws apply to these scenarios. We'll feature perspectives from local health department, the Department of Labor and Industries and legal counsel. Moderated by AGC's Andrew Ledbetter and Mandi Kime.
Typcially our safety forums are on a recurring GoToMeeting link, but this month we will be expanding our audience, so attendees will need to register ahead of time. Join us on Nov 5 at 10:00 a.m. -- register here.
Nominations due Oct. 31 for
2020 AGC-WSDOT Partnering awards

WSDOT contractors are encouraged to nominate projects for the 2020 Partnership for Excellence in Contract Administration Awards, sponsored by AGC and WSDOT. These awards recognize and encourage extraordinary achievements by the contractor/WSDOT partnership responsible for delivering transportation projects in a timely, professional and responsive manner.

Normally, these awards would be presented at the AGC-WSDOT Annual Meeting in January, but due to COVID, that event has been cancelled for 2021.  Rest assured we will honor these deserving projects nonetheless!  Questions? Contact WSDOT’s Heidi Jensen.

for the nomination form. Applications must be received by WSDOT on or before October 31, 2020.
FREE WEBINAR
Healthy Coping and Personal Resilience

In partnership with the Construction Center of Excellence and Cascade Centers, AGC of Washington is proud to co-host this one-hour on-line event, Healthy Coping and Personal Resilience.
This free webinar will address how to lead through adversity, where to find resources, and how to support and advocate for your employees. Register here.
Webinar on DOE’s new expedited
Voluntary Cleanup Program

Mark your calendar for a webinar on the Department of Ecology’s new expedited process under the Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP).  The webinar will take place on October 29, 2:30-3:30 p.m. No need to register, simply click here to join the webinar at the appropriate time. The expedited VCP is a self-sustaining process with dedicated staff to respond quickly to the needs of developers working under compressed schedules.

The time to get through the expedited VCP could be as short as four months compared to 18 months (or more) under the regular VCP. Also, the new program allows moving sites in the regular VCP to the expedited VCP as long as certain requirements are met. Ecology released this information providing more detail about the program. If you have the opportunity, this a great time to enter the expedited VCP as they currently have no backlog or wait times on reviewing applications. AGC and NAIOP worked with the Dept. of Ecology to help develop the expedited process, which should be a huge benefit in getting contaminated sites into productive economic use more quickly.
In 2022, AGC of Washington will celebrate our one-hundredth year of existence — and yeah, it’s a big deal!
Of course, we want our members to be a part of it in a big way. So we’re starting with a members-only contest to design the official AGC of Washington Centennial Celebration logo. Of course, the winning design will be used and seen high and low, far and wide, all over our centennial-celebration materials and events.
We’re making it interesting, too, with some great prizes, including $500 in cash. Entries are now being accepted -- click here for more information and rules.
