ADVOCACY
King County election results
The Seattle business community is experiencing severe disappointment with the recent general-election results. We had an historic opportunity to elect a more pragmatic and responsible Seattle city council, but did not succeed. AGC and its members participated in the business community's CASE campaign to elect a new city council with a record donations from AGC's BUILD PAC, and funds directed from our Past Presidents fundraising campaign. CASE raised an unprecedented $2.4M to elect a new city council, but was not able to correct the false anti-business narratives which disintegrated support from undecided voters in the weeks before election day. A regrouping is in order as we anticipate responding to more anti-business and anti-competitiveness policy from an emboldened liberal socialist council. If you would like to help by participating in the AGC Local Government Affairs Committee, please email Sonja Forster.
On the bright side, congratulations are in order for two AGC-member candidates! AGC past president Jake Jacobson won his race for Mercer Island City Council, Position 7. Jake ran an energetic race based on solid business and management practices and Mercer Island will be benefiting from his expertise. Jeremy Nutting, Assistant Superintended with Exxel Pacific, has been re-elected to the Des Moines City Council, Position 4. Jeremy is a valued public servant and caring community member in Des Moines. Congratulations to Jake and Jeremy!
